Kwalliya ba wai kawai man shafawa ba ce ko fentin leɓe da gashi, a’a, wata hanya ce da mata ke bayyana kansu, suna ƙarfafa gwiwarsu, suna jan hankali da kuma neman girmamawa a cikin al’umma. A Arewacin Najeriya, inda al’adu da addini ke taka muhimmiyar rawa, kwalliya ta samu wani matsayi na musamman. Amma shin me ya sa kwalliya ta zama abin alfahari ga wasu, yayin da wasu ke kallonta a matsayin kwaikwayo ko tsinuwa?
A al’adance, mata a Arewa suna amfani da lalle, turare, dilka da man shafawa don ƙawata kansu. Amma zuwan zamani ya kawo sabbin hanyoyi na ado: fentin fuska, “make-up” mai nau’i daban-daban, shafe-shafe masu ƙanshi, da amfani da kayan fata daga Turai da Asia. A yawancin bukukuwa, walima, bikin aure, shagalin sallah, ba a cika ganin mace ba tare da kwalliya mai nauyi ba.
Yayin da wasu ke ganin kwalliya a matsayin armun azimun, don wasu na ganin kamar fita ba tare da kwalliya ba tamkar fita ba kaya ne. Kamar yadda wata matashiya a Kaduna ta taɓa faɗa cewa, “Ni dai bana jin cikakkiyar mace ce in fita ba tare da kwalliya ba. Ko a ofis, idan ban saka fentin ido da hoda ba, kamar na fita babu kaya ne.”
Wasu na kallon kwalliya a matsayin hanyar ɓoye ainihin fuska, hanyar yaudara ko kamannun bogi. Wannan ra’ayi yana da ƙarfi musamman daga mabiya addini da masu kallon kwalliya a matsayin fasa dokar kamun kai.
Saidai kamar yadda wata malama ta faɗa cewa,“Kwalliya ba wai yaudara ba ce; hanyar ƙarfafa kai ce. Mafi yawancin mata na yin kwalliya ne don su ji daɗi da su kansu, ba don su burge maza ba.”
Binciken wasu masana ilimin halayyar ɗan adam ya nuna cewa, mata da ke yin kwalliya akai-akai na nuna ƙwarin gwiwa da ƙima fiye da waɗanda ba sa kwalliya. Wannan yana da tasiri a wajen aikin yi, sadarwa, da ma hulɗar yau da kullum. A cikin al’umma da ke ɗaukar kyan fuska a matsayin alamar tsabta da cancanta, mata na yin ƙoƙarin biyan wannan ƙima ta hanyar kwalliya.
Malamai da dama sun bayyana cewa yin kwalliya ba haramun ba ne matuƙar ba a biya shi da haram ba, kuma ba a fita da shi wajen nuna ƙawa da ya saɓa wa kamun kai ba. A al’adance ma, ana kallon kwalliya a matsayin ado na mace ga mijinta. Don haka, batun shi ne yadda ake amfani da ita, ba ita kanta ba.
A ƙarshe, kwalliya na da tasiri matuƙa a rayuwar mata, ta fuskar ƙima, da hulɗar jama’a. Amma dole ne a fahimci cewa kwalliya ba ita ce ainihin mace ba, mace ita ce da zuciyarta, hankalinta, da ayyukanta. Kwalliya zata iya ƙara kyau, amma bai kamata ta zama abin dogaro ga ƙima da darajar mace ba.
